The Ancient History of the Distinguished First Name - MERVYN

MERVYN is an ancient Welsh name., in more recent times used in England, and in the 1930's popular in Australia and New Zealand.

MEURVIN was the son of Ogier and Queen Morgan of Wales and therefore a nephew of King Arthur.

MERVYN, in Welsh, means "favourite friend". Its popularity in the 1930's was probably due to the British film star, MERVYN JOHNS, (father of Glynnis).
